Purpose

·        To ensure a safe[1] and effective[2] environment for prayer/prophetic ministry[3] for individuals before, during and after services and events at, or under the authority of St. James the Less Church.

Scope

·        This policy applies to all members and visitors present at a St. James the Less Church event (see above).

·        This policy applies to all forms of personal prayer ministry. (Body, Soul, Spirit)

 

Policy Statement

 

At St. James the Less, members of the congregation and visitors can expect to receive prayer and/or prophetic ministry from people who have been trained and released by the Rectors authority into this ministry.  

 

From the point of view of a person in need of Prayer you can :

1)     Go to the Prayer ministry team on duty[4];

2)     Make an appointment with the Restoration Ministry[5];

3)     Go to any member of the Sunday Morning Prayer ministry team[6]

4)     Go to the Rector or any member of the Ministry Leadership Team[7]; or

5)     at your own discretion go to a member of the congregation with whom you are comfortable and ask them to pray for you.

 

From the point of view of a person who might have a desire or burden to pray for another person in the congregation or to give a “word”

1)     Members of the Ministry Leadership team and members of the Prayer Ministry team are authorized to approach anyone.

2)     If you are not a member of one of these teams then you should:

a.      Submit it back to the Lord. [i.e. pray the “word” or prayer burden back to the Lord in intercession for the person you are concerned about.]

b.      If after submitting it back to the Lord in intercession, you still feel to share it, find a person on the MLT and submit it to them for discernment, direction and action.[8]

 


 

 

 

 

 

Compliance

1)     If you feel this policy has not been followed in a situation that you were involved in or you have another concern, please speak to, telephone or email the Rector, or a member of the Ministry Leadership Team   Our desire is that you would receive ministry in a way that respects you as a person, is sensitive to your needs and honours the will of the Lord.

[1] “Safe” means that we honour and respect the person.  A person who is receiving pray has the right to say “no”,  to request further information, and to ask for others to join in prayer.

[2] “Effective” means Biblical, Submitted to  right Authority,  In agreement with two or three others, Flowing with the gifts of the spirit.

[3] This includes all prayer for any need whatsoever as it applies to a person.   It may be physical healing or emotional healing or spiritual deliverance. Body, Soul, Spirit

[4] To be found in a designated place following each service of public worship.

[5] Call the Church office and request an appointment with the Restoration Ministry

[6] A list of prayer team people can be obtained from the office.   The prayer team on duty each Sunday is listed in the Bulletin.

[7] The Ministry Leadership Team is appointed by the Rector.  A list can be obtained from the Office.

[8] This is an issue of pastoral covering and responsibility not gifting or maturity.
