Policy Statement
|
Goals |
Measures |
|
To create small group
structures that foster belonging and purpose.
|
In 2008, 90% of the
congregation[1]
of SJTL are involved in a small group[2]
over the past 12 months |
|
To ensure resources at
SJTL (time, talent, and treasure) are balanced between missions in the local
community and missions further away.
|
In 2008 resources are
balanced across at least 4 of the 9 missions fields identified in the
Cultural/Geographic Missions Grid
[3](see
below) and progress is communicated on a regular basis. |
|
To ensure that there are
always opportunities for training, equipping, and mentoring in ministry. |
In 2008, 75% of the
congregation has participated in at least one training, equipping or
mentoring program in the last five years. In 2008, 50% of the
congregation is active in ministry to others. |
|
To create communication
processes and structures so that all members of the congregation are
appropriately informed and educated. |
In 2008, a survey[4]
will conclude that 80% of the congregation feel they are informed and
educated on appropriate parish life and ministry matters. |
|
To grow in our
understanding and practice of hearing God’s voice corporately and
individually, and to pray in a more integrated way.
|
In 2008 75% of the
congregation has had at least 1 training/equipping/mentoring course in
prayer. 90% of the congregation
is actively praying in an integrated way. Attendance at and the frequency of Corporate Prayer Events are on the increase.[5]
|
|
To develop a welcoming
“safe” environment during public worship times and to foster other
opportunities to go deeper in intimacy and broader in creativity.
|
In 2008, a survey will
indicate that 80% of the congregation will indicate the range of worship
opportunities meets their needs for spiritual development and growth. |

Missions Grid
Same, Similar,
Different describes the
cultural distance.
Local, Near, Far
describes the geographic distance for missions.
Our goal is to be working
in at least half of the grid.
Local/Same
Local/Similar
Near/ Similar
Far/ Different

It is apparent that another “survey” will be required..
one that will probably need to be designed and then given on a number of
occasions. It is probably also wise for us to do the NCD survey in
conjunction with this as well.
